A: The 4th of July events take place on the 4th itself. If the parade
cannot be held due to inclement weather, it's canceled. If the fireworks cannot
be held due to inclement weather, they will take place the next night; past that,

A: There are over 19 fun and challenging golf courses nearby.

A: The Frankfort Spring Craft Fair is always the 3rd Saturday in
June, the Elberta Art & Craft Fair is always the 3rd Saturday in July,
and the Frankfort August Art Fair is always the 3rd Saturday in August. Please

children?
A: We have many playgrounds and parks scattered throughout the area. We
have literally miles of beach on Lake Michigan at both Elberta and Frankfort, as
well as Frankfort's public beach on Crystal Lake. There's a historical museum in
nearby Benzonia. Gwen Frostic Prints is
fun to visit with its nature theme inside and out. The Homestead
Sugarhouse is a local favorite. And nearby Sleeping
Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, (the world's largest moving sand dunes) has the
biggest "sand box" anyone could ever dream of! And see our Calendar

A: We have the Frankfort-Elberta Beach-to-Beach Trail and the Betsie
Valley Trail. The Beach-to-Beach Trail is 4.2 miles long trail connecting the
beaches of Elberta and Frankfort and paved from the Lake Michigan Beach in Frankfort
to the town of Elberta. In Elberta, the Beach-to-Beach Trail it connects to the 18
mile long Betsie Valley Trail which goes past Railroad Point on Crystal Lake, then
to Beulah, and on into Thompsonville.

Q: Everyone tells us we need to take the family and visit
the Sleeping Bear Dunes; can you give me more information?
A: The Sleeping Bear Dunes National
Lakeshore, (which happens to be the world's largest moving sand dunes) begins
just a few miles north of Frankfort. It has stretches 35 miles along Lake Michigan
and includes the North and South Manitou Islands. It contains many outstanding natural
features, such as forests, beaches, dune formations, and ancient glacial phenomena.
There are museums, hiking/cross country ski trails, beaches, a huge dune climb, a
lighthouse from 1871, three former Lifesaving Service/Coast Guard Stations, and an
extensive rural historic farm district.
